Facial Liposuction involves the use of a small instrument (called a cannula) and a suction machine that removes unwanted fat. The cannula is inserted through a tiny puncture under the chin. The patient is under IV Sedation during the procedure. Neck liposuction is capable of creating a more attractive profile through facial contouring. In general, liposuction is the most effective and rapid way to address unwanted fat deposits with immediate results.
Neck liposuction is capable of creating a more attractive profile through facial contouring. There are newer, innovative treatments for this area of the face and neck. Kybella is a product that is injected under the skin to destroy fat cells. This treatment is effective for some patients, and requires several treatments. Generally, liposculpting is the most effective way to address unwanted fat deposits, as Kybella cannot reach fat deposits under the facial muscle structure.

Facial liposuction (lipsculpture) is a minimally invasive procedure, that targets fat removal on the face and neck. The process is helpful in resolving some of the following facial problems:
Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment to improve the appearance of moderate fat beneath the chin by physically destroying fat cells. The fat that is destroyed by Kybella, is the same fat that can be removed by our Ventura facial liposuction procedure. They both remove fat that is located above the platysma muscle of the neck. There are differences between these 2 techniques. Liposuction requires IV sedation, and the results are immediate with little to no discomfort.
Some patients may experience numbness in the area for a few weeks. With Kybella, only topical anesthesia is required and is similar to Botox injections. There is more post-operative discomfort and swelling with Kybella, and the results may not be noticeable for 4-5 weeks. In some cases, further injections of Kybella may be necessary (a second treatment). Dr. Morrissette offers both these treatments in his Ventura County office and he will discuss the benefits and treatment options during your consultation.
